Welcome to Year 1!
Hello and welcome to our class page! Thank you for visiting!
Year 1 is the most exciting year in the school! During Year 1, our pupils will be exploring ideas, discovering different ways to learn, and will be enjoying a variety of fantastic and new experiences.
During Year 1, we will work hard together to create a positive learning environment where pupils can be the best that they can be and reach their full potential!
A Typical School Day in Year 1
8:45am – Morning Welcome
9:00-10am – Structured Play/Reading
10am-10:30am – Snack and Prayer
10:30-10:45am – Break
10:45am-11:15am – Literacy
11:15am-11:45am – Numeracy
11:45am-12pm – Preparation for Lunch and Prayer
12:15pm – Lunch and Play
1.00pm – Curricular areas such as The World Around Us, Play, Religion, Personal Development and Mutual Understanding
2:00pm – Home time
2:00-3:00pm – Afterschool Club (optional)
What to bring to school each day
- Homework pack
- Coat
- Snack and lunch if applicable
Homework:
Homework is sent home each Monday in the Homework folder with usually two Literacy based and two Numeracy based tasks. Reading and words must be completed every night and homework book. Children will choose a library book each Monday and we ask that this is also returned on Friday.
Folders should be brought in every day.
We take specific reading groups every day, but please try to read and go over any word / letter cards each night for reinforcement.
Throughout the year, many notes will be sent home. Please ensure you check your child's homework pack and return any notes. Envelopes are available for After School and Dinner Monies.

- Friday – Dance with Chris, Golden Time.

Please label all items of clothing, lunch boxes, water bottles, PE bags etc.
