Cumann na mBunscol Girls Indoor Tyrone Heat
Our girls’ team produced a fantastic performance today to win their Indoor Gaelic heat against seven other large schools: St Catherine’s, St Mary’s Strabane, St Mary’s Killyclogher, Holy Family, St Conor’s, St Patrick’s Castlederg and St Colmcille’s Carrickmore.
A strong group stage — one draw and two wins — secured a place in the semi?final against Holy Family. The girls rose to the challenge brilliantly, earning their spot in a nail?biting final versus Carrickmore.
Having already drawn with Carrickmore earlier in the day, the girls knew there was very little between the sides. What followed was an epic contest. Showing incredible resilience and determination, they came from behind three times before pushing ahead to win 4–3 in a thrilling finish.
This result sends them through to the County Finals in Cookstown in a few weeks’ time — their third appearance up there in four years, a testament to the hard work and commitment of all the coaches involved in school and with the club.
Although this competition was 5-aside, we currently have over 20 girls from P6 and P7 training regularly, all showing great talent and promise for the future.
A big thank you to CmnB and Brian McGurk for organising the event, and to Paul Gallagher for refereeing throughout the day.
Exciting times ahead for this brilliant group!
